14 Day Camping Safari: Lilongwe - Victoria Falls
(Malawi, Zimbabwe)

Itinerary

Day 1: Lilongwe - Malawi
Although this is the capital city, it’s not large by most city standards. A curio market is the biggest attraction and this day is reserved for settling in after your flight.

Day 2 and 3: Kande Beach
A few hours drive brings us to the shores of Lake Malawi to our campsite / resort on the beach. Lake Malawi is the 7th largest fresh water lake in the world were there are 600 species of fish. You can have a lazy time on the beach or activity filled days of scuba diving , horse riding , sailing or maybe take a walk into the village and visit an orphanage.

Day 4 and 5: Cape Maclear
Fat Monkeys is our next destination on the southern tip of Lake Malawi. A truly African experience within Lake Malawi National Park. Enjoy an optional sunset cruise on a 38ft catamaran or have a go at snorkelling.

Day 6 and 7: Liwonde National Park
Our 1st encounter with Africa’s big game. Four of the Big Five are found here, also an abundance of bird life to keep every “twitcher” happy. Game drives are the order of the day, with dinner around the campfire.

Day 8: Harare - Zimbabwe
An early start and a full days drive will get us across the corridor of Mozambique to the capital of Zimbabwe, Harare. Our campsite is on the edge of town and is built among huge boulders , hence the name “The Rocks”.

Day 9 and 10: Antelope Park - Gweru
An easy drive brings us to one of the best private parks in Zimbabwe .Here you can walk with lions, feed lion cubs, go riding and swimming with elephants or horse riding where you can get close to wildlife in the park.

Day 11 and 12: Bulawayo - Rhodes Matopo's National Park
This is the 2nd largest city in the country. We stay at a campsite within a private home. Have lunch and relax around the pool. The next day we have a full day guided walking safari in Rhodes Matopo National Park where you can be only feet away from white rhino. Your guide Ian Harmer has great knowledge and will tell you many tales. You may include a trip to a village and meet the chief! And also visit bushman paintings.

Day 13 and 14: Victoria Falls
Now we travel towards the adventure capital of Africa, Victoria Falls, home of the mighty Zambezi. At full volume (March- May) this waterfall lives up to it’s name “the smoke that thunders”. If adrenalin sports are your thing you are in the right place. You may want to extend your visit to take it all in (please see the activities page for all optional extras at Victoria Falls).

Note. This trip can also be done in reverse. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe to Lilongwe, Malawi, option to continue to Zanzibar Tanzania.
